With flops such as Robinho still fresh in the minds of football fans, dipping into the Brazilian talent pool will always come with an aura of mystery. Though Neymar has already made a tremendous name for himself, there is no way to judge just what impact he will have at Barcelona.
Most likely the 21-year-old will realize his potential and become one of world’s best footballers. But there is still a chance that his talents might not translate well in Europe.
Despite the risk, Barcelona never gave up in their pursuit of Neymar.
The club’s persistence and desire to bring the Brazilian to Catalonia paid off, and they will be hoping for the best. Sandro Rosell and company were more than willing to take a chance on Neymar and may be willing to do so on others in the future.

Barcelona is already one of the richest and most recognized sporting clubs on the planet. But Neymar will likely be the driving force that puts the Catalans in the driver’s seat for the world’s most marketable club status.
According to the Daily Mail, Neymar is currently the world’s most marketable athlete.
The Brazilian has beat out the likes of Usain Bolt, LeBron James, Cristiano Ronaldo and even his future teammate, Lionel Messi. Joining Neymar with Barcelona will start a marketing frenzy that will pay off in a way never before seen.
Not only will Neymar continue to make money the rest of us can only dream of, but his arrival will only help settle Barcelona’s financial status. The Catalans will grow exponentially due to Neymar’s arrival, which in turn could see the club reach new heights.
The thought of Barcelona becoming even more of a force in football seems impossible. However, the arrival of Neymar will do just that.
No one will likely gain more from Neymar’s arrival than Lionel Messi. The Argentine striker has been forced to carry the club offensively for years now, and his new Brazilian partner will finally end that trend.
Barcelona has been searching for the perfect striker to complement Messi, but to no avail.
Neymar’s skills, however, will match up nicely beside Messi, as the pair will become the world’s deadliest striking duo. Just their presence alone will cause defenders to focus on both attackers, meaning the pair will actually give each other more space to work their magic.
But it is not solely the space and demanding of the attention of defenders that will help the duo shine.
Neymar and Messi have separate styles of play that will complement nicely. Messi is able to use quick footwork, passing and deep midfield play to score, while Neymar is more of a stylish dribbler who can also blast shots from outside the box.
With both South American stars playing off of each other, there will be no way for a defense to truly defend Barcelona. Messi will get his perfect partner, and the days of the parked-bus defense will officially be over.

The biggest effect that Neymar will have on Barcelona may very well be the minor tweaks to the world famous tiki-taka style of play. Barcelona has relied on a short-passing, possession style of play for years now, but Neymar will be able to add a bit more.
For so long Barcelona has always had a plan A, but never a backup plan. While Neymar will not provide a secondary dynamic, he will change the initial style of play, and that will force defenses to alter their strategy.
To begin with, Neymar will cause Barcelona to utilize wing play more than ever.
This season alone, defenses have neutralized Barcelona by forcing them to play through the middle. That same strategy will not work once Neymar arrives, as his ability to get out wide and create space will call or attention from defenders.
With Neymar pulling defenders out of position and Barcelona having more space than ever, the passing game may alter a bit as well. Short passing will still dominate the Blaugrana midfield, but longer passes and more dribbling could soon take shape.
Above all else, Neymar will add a deeper dimension to Barcelona’s attacking line.
The club has relied heavily on goals from inside the box, which has caused defenses to park the bus. But Neymar’s ability to score from outside the box will force opponents to come out of their packed in formations.
In all honesty, Neymar will add to Barcelona what is missing. The very strategies used by defenses to neutralize Barcelona will be taken advantage of once Neymar becomes accustomed to his role at the club.

In the long run, the club’s decision to purchase Neymar will see to it that Barcelona continues to bring home silverware and be one of the world’s top clubs.
Even without Neymar, La Blaugrana would likely win La Liga again next year and likely the Copa del Rey as well. But the arrival of the Brazilian starlet will give Barcelona more firepower in the Champions League.
The Catalans will return to being heavy favorites in all competitions, and the hopes of a treble season will return. Neymar will bring new life to Barcelona, and with that life will come more trophies.
Of course, Barcelona will need to address other key areas such as the defense. But Neymar will be seen as the marquee purchase of the last few years and will likely be the player, along with Messi, who takes the club forward in the coming seasons.
